ABOUT THE FUND

The Minnesota Laborers Health and Welfare Fund (the Fund) welcomes you to the Benefit Program offered to all eligible Plan Participants.

Your Clinics and HealthPartners

The trustees of the Minnesota Laborers Health and Welfare Fund are proud of our relationship with HealthPartners. Your clinics are staffed with clinicians from HealthPartners and you can be assured you’ll receive high-quality care at the Laborers Clinics.

For over sixty years, HealthPartners has been an innovative leader in healthcare. HealthPartners created one of the first consumer-governed, prepaid health plans in the United States in the 1950s and have continued to innovate over the years. Their doctors are all board-certified and many appear each year on “Top Doctors” lists.

The Laborers Clinics will be staffed by physician assistants and nurse practitioners who are certified to do many of the things a doctor does. A board-certified medical doctor will rotate among the three clinic locations (Hugo, Eagan, and Rogers) with additional doctors and clinicians added as demand increases for these clinic services.
The Minnesota Laborers Health & Welfare and Pension plans are managed jointly by union and employer representatives.

Retirement and Vacation

When you work as a Union Laborer, your Employer invests in your future so that you have the opportunity to prosper and retire well. Under most of the Minnesota and North Dakota collective bargaining agreements, an Employer makes an hourly pension contribution for each hour a Laborer works in covered employment. The hourly contribution may vary by contract, job classification or area worked. This benefit provides a steady and reliable defined benefit, allowing you to enjoy your retirement years.

The Minnesota Laborers Pension Fund is healthy and in the “green zone” as defined by the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPACA), requiring sufficient funds sufficient to cover at least 80% or more of the benefits earned by all active participants, retirees and beneficiaries.
